Embark on an unforgettable 10-day journey through two of Northern Europe’s most vibrant capital cities: London and Oslo. Both cities pulse with history, culture, and distinctive charm, promising travelers a blend of iconic landmarks, hidden gems, and authentic local experiences. London’s timeless grandeur meets Oslo’s fresh Scandinavian vibe as you dive deep into unique cuisine, lively events, and inspiring landscapes. Whether you’re wandering through bustling street markets or enjoying quiet fjord views, this itinerary blends heart-pumping activity with relaxing discoveries, offering you the best of both worlds.

Starting destination London

Day 1-3: Exciting London

Day 1: Arrival & Classic Sights
Start your adventure exploring the iconic sights that make London one of the world’s most visited cities. Take a stroll along the South Bank to see Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament, then head to the tower of London to dive into English royal history. In the evening, enjoy a classic pub dinner at Waxy O’Connor’s for an authentic local vibe and hearty fare. Don't miss trying fish and chips here – a must-have! Budget travelers will love the street food options available around Borough Market. For a splurge, try The Ledbury in Notting Hill for Michelin-starred British cuisine.

Day 2: Hidden Gems & Cultural Buzz
Dive into London’s artistic heartbeat by visiting Shoreditch. This area buzzes with vibrant street art, quirky cafes, and independent boutiques. One of my favorite moments was sipping a perfectly brewed flat white at the quirky Attendant cafe – located inside a restored Victorian toilet! Later, enjoy the Tate Modern’s free exhibitions or catch an indie show at the Old Blue Last. For dinner, try Dishoom for excellent Indian cuisine at reasonable prices – perfect for both budget and mid-range travelers. If you want something fancier, venture to Sketch, an eccentric spot with fabulous food and atmosphere.

Day 3: A Day in Hyde Park & West End Magic
Spend a leisurely morning in Hyde Park, renting a pedal boat on the Serpentine or simply people-watching. This park offers a refreshing retreat from the bustling city streets. In the afternoon, hit the West End for a matinee show – some tickets can be surprisingly affordable if booked last minute at the TKTS booth in Leicester Square. Theatrical fans will relish this lively entertainment scene. Wrap up your day at Rules Restaurant, near Covent Garden, the oldest restaurant in London serving classic British dishes with a rich history.

Day 4-6: Charming Copenhagen

Day 4: Arrival and Nyhavn Charm
Travel from London to Copenhagen – preferred by public transport: take the Eurostar to Brussels, followed by a connecting train and ferry combination for an adventurous route. Alternatively, a direct flight to Copenhagen Airport is quicker and often affordable. Once in the city, wander through the iconic Nyhavn harbor with its colorful houses and lively cafes. For dinner, try Smørrebrød at Aamanns - traditional Danish open-faced sandwiches that perfectly capture local flavors. Budget-friendly options include street food at Reffen, Copenhagen’s famous street food market.

Day 5: Bike the City & Hidden Coffee Spots
Copenhagen is made for biking – rent a bike and explore the city like a local. Cycling along the waterfront to The Little Mermaid statue and through the lush King's Garden was truly energizing. One wonderful surprise was discovering The Coffee Collective, a hidden spot serving some of the best brews I’ve ever tasted. For a unique dining experience, head to Noma if you want to indulge in world-famous New Nordic cuisine (be sure to book in advance!). For more budget-friendly but delicious Danish fare, try Grød for hearty porridge and creative toppings.

Day 6: Story of a Day in Christiania
Christiania, the famously autonomous “free town” in Copenhagen, is an experience unlike any other. I spent the day wandering its vibrant streets painted with murals and filled with eclectic market stalls. It’s a place of utopian ideals and artistic freedom, where locals live in tiny eco-houses surrounded by nature. I recommend packing a picnic and sitting by the serene lake at its heart. Be mindful that photography is generally discouraged here, especially in certain areas, so always respect local guidelines. I ended my day enjoying some homemade pastries from a small bakery on the edge of Christiania while reflecting on the unique blend of community and rebellion that defines this spot.

Day 7-10: Stunning Oslo

Day 7: Arrival & Oslo Fjord
From Copenhagen to Oslo, the preferred option is by ferry for a scenic and relaxing journey across the Baltic Sea, allowing you to unwind and enjoy stunning views. Alternatively, flights between the cities are quick and reasonably priced. On arrival, settle into Oslo by exploring the vibrant Aker Brygge waterfront full of shops and restaurants. For dinner, savor fresh seafood at Fiskeriet for affordable, tasty dishes or book a table at Maaemo, Oslo’s acclaimed Michelin-starred spot for a luxurious Nordic tasting menu.

Day 8: Vigeland Park & Museum Day
Start your day at the impressive Vigeland Sculpture Park, home to over 200 sculptures in bronze and granite. It’s an outdoor gallery unlike any other, blending art and nature seamlessly. The afternoon is perfect for museum hopping; check out the Viking Ship Museum and the Fram Museum to delve into Norway’s rich maritime heritage. If you’re a coffee enthusiast, a recommended pause is at Tim Wendelboe, a world-class roastery and espresso bar in Grünerløkka.

Day 9: A Tale from the Oslo Opera House
One of the highlights of Oslo for me was visiting the stunning Opera House, which looks like an iceberg rising from the fjord. Walking across its sloping roof gives you panoramic views of the harbor and city skyline. I vividly remember attending a ballet performance here, surrounded by the sleek Scandinavian design that makes the venue a cultural treasure. Before the show, I had a quick bite at the Opera Bar where locals mingle over simple yet delicious plates like Arctic char and reindeer sausage. While it’s tempting to try a taxi all around, Oslo’s public transport system is efficient and will get you everywhere with ease and sustainability.

Day 10: Wrap-Up & Departure
Spend your final day enjoying a leisurely breakfast at Café Sorgenfri, noshing on traditional Norwegian waffles with brunost (brown cheese) – a sweet and salty delight. A stroll through the trendy Grünerløkka neighborhood offers last-minute gift shopping and relaxed vibes. For your journey home, public transport to Oslo Airport is the simplest and most eco-friendly option, though car rentals are available for those wanting a countryside detour. Reflect on the incredible blend of history, culture, and natural beauty you have enjoyed on this Northern European adventure!
